About Queensland

Queensland is the 2nd largest state in Australia in terms of size and the 3rd in population size. It is home to more than 4 million people. Often referred to as the “Sunshine State”, Queensland is home to 10 of Australia’s 30 largest cities and is the nation’s third-largest economy.

Tourism in the state, fuelled largely by its warm tropical climate, is a major industry with the vast majority of Queensland receiving an average of between eight and nine hours of sunshine every day.

Queensland is home to beautiful beaches, with the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and many lovely islands a short drive from the capital Brisbane.

About Brisbane

Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane’s metropolitan area has a population of 2.3 million.

Brisbane has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and dry moderately warm winters.

It has a substantial live theatre and music scene – both popular and classical, with the QLD Performing Arts Centre located at Southbank. There is also a vibrant contemporary  music scene, with live venues mostly located in Fortitude Valley.
